Sweet Home…North Carolina?

My wife and I—both military brats—grew up all over the South. Married in Nashville, we shortly moved across the country to Phoenix for my first job out of grad school. Arizona certainly has its charms, but after almost two decades in the desert we found ourselves wanting to return home. South. Last year the opportunity arose. We packed up the kids, two dogs, and a cat, and headed down I-40 for North Carolina.

We wanted our kids to experience small town life. We got our wish and more. Have you heard NC native Scotty McCreery’s song Water Tower Town? Creedmoor is it.

Creedmoor Water Tower

In Creedmoor the biggest news of the last year was, in fact, the construction of the new water tower. Population 4,124. First Baptist Church is at the south end of Main Street. Just a couple hundred yards north, Main is capped off by an old warehouse and a dentist’s shop. Blink and you’ll miss it.

But you’ll wish you hadn’t. There’s so much more to these little hamlets than meets the eye. Join us as we explore our new home and rediscover the beauty and joy of life in the South…small town NC-style.
